StepUP Mentoring – Helping people to help themselves

StepUp are a dynamic organisation that uses the power of sport and sport participation to effect ongoing positive change in peoples lives. All members of the StepUp team are high achievers in sport. We employ current and retired athletes from a number of different sports who have competed at a professional, national or international level. We deliver a range of support, training and mentoring services to a varied client group that is focused towards achieving personal and professional development. Our staff use their sporting success to inspire and motivate clients to reach their own personal goals. We act as guides, mentors and teammates on the journey to success.

Jesse Owens was not only an amazing athlete but an icon of the 20th century. He was revered for his sporting prowess and was the first man to win 4 gold medals at an Olympic games (Berlin 1936). His belief in the power of sport meant that he will not only be remembered as an outstanding athlete but as a truly great human being.

“We all have dream. But in order to make dreams into reality, it takes an awful lot of determination, dedication, self-discipline and effort. These things apply to everyday life. You learn not only the sport but things like respect of others, ethics in life, how you are going to live, how you treat your fellow man and how you live with your fellow man”.

Our Mission Statement

Some people believe in fate, they sit back and think “what will be will be”. As current and retired world class athletes, we believe in creating our own fate, and we believe in our ability to make things happen. We have learned many valuable lessons from our experience in sport; we have all experienced pain but our desire to achieve has soothed the pain and left us feeling proud in our resilience. We have all been defeated but sport has given us the strength of character to be able to accept that defeat and the knowledge to know that there are greater tragedies in life. We have had the fleeting success of glorious achievement but know that the lasting lesson sport has taught is the greatest reward. We believe that we have the ability to make good things happen to lots of people in need. We are ready to StepUp, Dive in and Fight to make a difference.
